Orthodontics
Orthodontics is a field of dentistry that deals with correcting irregular tooth positions and misaligned jaws. During the mixed dentition period when both primary and permanent teeth are present, the desired effect is achieved with removable appliances, while during the permanent dentition period, fixed braces are used.
Orthodontics deals with the prevention, diagnosis, and correction of improperly positioned teeth and surrounding structures. Although the journey to achieving the perfect smile with the help of braces is longer, it is worth the patience and effort. The result not only changes the appearance of your teeth and the beauty of your smile, but also provides proper teeth alignment, jaw functionality, healthier gums, and reduces the risk of cavities.
Age limit for wearing dentures
Orthodontics is not reserved only for the youngest – it is recommended for adults as well as children. You are never too old to invest in your oral health and the smile you deserve.
Procedure
Our clinic is equipped with the latest digital orthodontic technology to provide you with top-notch treatment. This means that we digitally perform diagnostics, design, and simulate your future smile, and based on all this data, we create a precise plan for orthodontic therapy.
During the initial examination, a digital impression is taken with an intraoral scanner. This modern device allows for incredibly fast and precise impressions of the teeth, all while being completely comfortable without the need for trays and impression materials.
Types of appliances
In orthodontics, various appliances are used, including:
- fixed appliances (with metal or clear brackets), one of the most well-known brands being Dentaurum,
- removable appliances that patients can put on and take off
- modern aligners for teeth correction.
The aligners are thin, transparent, and aesthetically acceptable, providing a discreet approach to correcting minor irregularities in bite and tooth position. Our software uses patient data to create a plan and the final result of the therapy. The software determines how much the teeth need to move to the ideal position, and based on that, it determines the number of aligners for the teeth. Each aligner moves the teeth closer to the desired position, and the number of aligners worn depends on the complexity of the case, and therefore the price.
